…when a director actually agrees to work on a movie project for an MMO – in this case, World of Warcraft the movie.
While WoW has been the most pervasive into mainstream culture as of recent years (celebrity commercials and endorsements from soft drinks among their achievements), a movie is a whole other step in a new direction. This might seem like an annoyance to some people, but in the realm of making games more palatable to a larger audience, it’s not such a bad thing.
With Sam Raimi at the helm, can we expect to see Arthas mumble his way through a spell meant to save the world but instead unleashes the undead on the world? Can we see some wise old Tauren talking about how “with great power comes great responsibility”? One can only wonder.

I haven't read anything about the upcoming film, but I sincerely hope Arthas is at the center. He was my favorite part of the RTS game, and I think his story would translate to film best.
Medivh would be interesting as well.
It will still be crap in one of two ways. It will either follow the subject matter closely and fail as a film, or it will work as a film and fail to appease fans of the games. That's the catch-22 with all video game movies.
It will rake in buttloads of dough because of what it is, but 10 years later, I promise you, it will be looked back on as a pile of poo.
You know that movie about how the world is going to end in 2012?
This movie is the herald of that movie being true.
All video game movies are doomed for failure. I'm not remotely excited about this.
Also, I doubt Arthas will be the center of it. From what I've read, Blizz wants the movie to be in between the last Warcraft expansion and WoW. Probably just be a lame movie about how the in between events before WoW came to be. But if they ditch that idea, they should just ditch the movie altogether. I hate watching crap that I've already played a bunch of times. Unoriginal movie is unoriginal.
